Hanging out at the Alderson's

This past Sunday, Sierra, Kelly and I hung out at the Alderson's (Kelly's aunt) for a relaxing afternoon. Sierra seems a bit scared in this picture with Taylor and her friend Tarin, but she was just antsy. Debbie's back yard is filled with wonders...

If Sierra ever joins the LPGA tour, mark my words, it started here.

Debbie's pond contains hours of fun...and lots of sticks Sierra threw in.

Grandma Alderson (Sierra's great grandma) was visiting for the weekend.

Hanging out with Grandpa Russ...

Life at Iryna's - Sierra's Babysitter

Last week was Sierra' last week at her babysitter's house. She may be returning in October, but we wanted to at least say what a great job she did. Sierra loved playing with her and her little son Jaden. Most mornings she couldn't wait to say goodbye to me!

Here's Sierra and Jaden. Jaden is clearly one smooth fella.

Sierra is pictured below with Iryna, Kevin and Jaden, her two children. Thanks for a great year Iryna!

The Daily Trek to Iryna's House

Each day for the past year, Sierra and I made a trip to the house of Iryna, our babysitter. I though it would be fitting to remember the routine we went through for a year. Here are the five steps we rehearsed every morning. 1) Hop in the car and smile for daddy.

2) Get out of the car at Iryna's and look to see if the doggy is sticking his nose under the fence.

3) Say hello to Mr. Squirrel in Iryna's garden. Occasionally smell a flower or two.

4) Get up those steps!

5) Good morning Iryna, and goodbye daddy!

Seminary Graduation

Two weeks ago, some of my good buddies graduated from Denver Seminary. Here I am with Jason Kell, who graduated with his Masters in Counseling (we call him a master in humanity, as opposed to the masters in divinity degree we all got).

Chris Durkin will soon be headed off to New Jersey to Pastor one of the few Southern Baptist Churches on the East Coast.

And Mr. Chris Shinnick will likely end up in Hawaii after a long, relaxing summer with his parents in California.

Becky Shinnick (Chris' wife) will be taking off too. We're going to miss them...and Sebastian (little dude to the left) is going to miss Sierra. Sierra has taken to chasing Sebby around---most other kids chase Sierra around!

Well, after graduating from seminary, now they are equipped with both the whole armor of God (Eph. 6) as well as the whole armor of a fisherman. You never know when you'll need a fish hook or altoid in ministry....
